OpenAI Build Week Community Hackathon - Taipei

Welcome to the OpenAI Build Week Community Hackathon - Taipei. This is a full-day, hands-on builder sprint inviting engineers, designers, founders, students, product people, open-source contributors, and makers interested in AI from Taiwan to join together. The goal is simple: create something functional with Codex. OpenAI Build Week connects builders worldwide, using Codex and the OpenAI Developer Platform for prototyping, improving current projects, and advancing software products to a stage ready for demonstration, testing, and sharing. In Taipei, we will take a day to turn ideas into working demos, explore agentic coding workflows, and share the results with the local community. You can start from scratch, extend an existing project, create developer tools, build AI-native products, experiment with agents, or enhance existing workflows. Prior experience with Codex is not required, but you should be familiar with software development and bring your own laptop. Team formation and registration each team must consist of 2 to 4 members. Each member needs to register individually and enter the identical team name as their teammates to ensure proper organization of team registration data. A maximum of 30 teams will be accepted. Full four-member teams will be given priority for admission, so registering as a complete four-member team gives you the best chance to secure a spot. Please confirm with your teammates before registration and use a consistent team name. Codex Credits participants who check in at the event will receive USD 100 in Codex credits. Hackathon Prizes 1st Place - $5,000 OpenAI API credits 2nd Place - $2,500 OpenAI API credits 3rd Place - $1,000 OpenAI API credits what to build Agentic Coding create tools or workflows using Codex as an AI coding agent. AI-Native Products develop practical products that place AI at the core of the user experience. Developer Tools build tools that assist users in debugging, testing, documenting, deploying or faster delivery. Domain Agents create agents tailored for education, productivity, business, civic tech, healthcare, accessibility, media, or local Taiwan scenarios. Evals & Reliability develop tools that make it easier to test, evaluate, monitor, or improve AI systems. Open Track bring your own ideas to build something practical. We look forward to seeing - a clear user or workflow - a working demo, not just a concept - thoughtful use of Codex or OpenAI tools - providing value for real users - responsible and inclusive AI design - a direction for continued development post-hackathon agenda 10:00 AM - Check-in, light snacks, and setup 10:30 AM - Welcome and OpenAI Build Week briefing 11:00 AM - Codex Workshop 11:45 AM - Team confirmation and project scoping 12:00 PM - Light lunch and build sprint begins 3:00 PM - 1-minute video submission deadline 3:45 PM - Finalists announced 4:00 PM - Finalist demos, 2 minutes per team 5:00 PM - Prize presentation 5:15 PM - Networking 6:00 PM - Event conclusion Demos & Global Build Week at the end of the event, shortlisted teams will present brief demos of their builds. Teams should aim to present a working prototype, clear workflow, or significant technical progress. We will also share how to continue building after the event and participate in the wider global Build Week challenge. Food & Drinks light snacks, a light lunch, and drinks will be provided.
