In this meeting, we will discuss the article Lenia. This is our second meeting on the topic of cellular automata (you may have heard of Conway's Game of Life). The field examines the emergent (organism-like) complex phenomena in a virtual environment governed by a small number of fundamental rules for the interaction of matter within it. These experiments relate to hypotheses about the emergence of life and the conditions for the spontaneous organization of systems that store information. They are also visually impressive. The article explores the observed 'biology' in a new type of environment. If you haven't been to our meeting before - we gather people who want to exchange experiences in the field. Participants have varying levels of knowledge, but at a minimum, an interest in the technical details is required. If you're wondering - come at least to listen to the discussion. The meetings are held in a generally open format - one moderator goes through the main points of the article, and anyone can join in if they have questions or interesting points for discussion. It is advisable to have reviewed the article beforehand for at least an hour or two, so we can navigate more easily during the meeting.
