Session 07: Connecting AI to Action

Transforming AI from Passive Observers into Active Operators About the Event AI can generate answers, summarise information, and help us make decisions. But what happens when AI can go beyond conversation and interact with the software systems around it? An intelligent application becomes far more capable when it can safely search a knowledge base, access relevant data, and use tools to perform specific tasks. In this session, we take the next step in building AI that acts. We move from understanding how AI connects to external tools to actually linking those systems together. Participants will build and connect real AI tools using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing AI applications to interact with data, search systems, and backend services through a structured and controlled interface. Building on the data and retrieval systems developed in previous sessions, we will bring the different pieces together and explore what happens when AI is given access to useful capabilities beyond the chat window.
