TechDerby AWS Community August Meetup

Learn AWS fundamentals and see an AI-powered serverless application in action at TechDerby AWS Community’s first meetup in Derby. Taking place on Wednesday 19 August 2026, from 17:00 to 19:00 BST, this beginner-friendly session offers a practical introduction to Amazon Web Services, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. The event will be held at the Game Changer Lab, Cavendish Building, University of Derby, 1 Agard Street, Derby DE1 1DZ. ## Build your understanding of AWS The central session, “Getting Started with AWS: Build Your First AI-Powered Application,” will explain what AWS is, why millions of organisations use it and how cloud skills can support a career in technology and AI. Rather than focusing only on theory, the meetup includes a live demonstration of a real-world AI application built with serverless AWS technologies. You’ll see how several services connect within one cloud workflow: - Amazon S3 for storing application data - AWS Lambda for running serverless application logic - Amazon Rekognition for adding AI-powered image analysis - A practical learning roadmap for continuing your AWS journey after the event By the end of the session, attendees should understand core AWS concepts, have seen a working cloud application and have a clearer idea of how to begin building their own projects or preparing for AWS certification. ## Who is it for?
