MoDRE'26: International Model-Driven Requirements Engineering Workshop

The 16th International Model-Driven Requirements Engineering (MoDRE) workshop returns to [Montreal](https://www.createwith.com/cities/montreal) in August 2026, bringing together researchers and practitioners at the intersection of model-driven development and requirements engineering. This year's focus on large language models and generative AI reflects the rapid transformation of how we capture, analyze, and formalize software requirements. ## What Makes MoDRE'26 Special MoDRE continues its mission to bridge the gap between the flexibility needed for capturing user needs and the formal rigor required for model transformation. The workshop explores how Requirements Engineering (RE) can leverage Model-Driven Development (MDD) techniques, particularly investigating areas of RE that haven't yet been sufficiently formalized for integration into MDD environments. With the explosion of AI-enabled modeling tools, this year's workshop examines how large language models are reshaping model-based requirements engineering practices. ## Topics and Research Areas The workshop welcomes submissions across a broad spectrum of model-driven requirements engineering topics, with special emphasis on LLM impact. Key areas include modeling languages and metamodels for requirements engineering, non-functional requirements, and domain-specific applications in cyber-physical systems, IoT, Big Data, and Industry 4.0. The program covers model-driven regulatory compliance, requirements models at runtime, and integration with agile practices and DevOps. Emerging topics include requirements models for machine learning solutions, AI approaches for model transformations, flexible and collaborative modeling, and requirements engineering for low-code/no-code development—particularly relevant for the [no-code development](https://www.createwith.com) community. The workshop also addresses human-centered concerns including ethics, fairness, sustainability, and GreenIT. ## Submission Categories MoDRE'26 accepts four types of submissions: **Research papers** (8-10 pages) presenting novel findings that improve or analyze existing solutions **Short papers** (4-5 pages) reporting work in progress **Position papers** (4-5 pages) outlining visions for the future of model-driven requirements engineering **Industry papers** (4-10 pages) describing real-world adoption experiences or highlighting future challenges All papers must present original content and follow IEEE formatting guidelines
