As generative AI expands beyond chat interfaces into autonomous workflows and business applications, database access becomes a critical engineering challenge. This session examines how MCP Toolbox for Databases can give agents, developer tools and AI-powered applications controlled access to structured enterprise data,without requiring teams to create and maintain a separate custom integration for every database or application. ## What the session covers Stenal P Jolly, Senior Cloud Architect at Google Cloud, will introduce MCP Toolbox for Databases, an open-source, enterprise-grade server built around the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Through practical examples and demonstrations, he will explain how developers can connect AI applications to databases while accounting for three essential production requirements: security, scalability and performance. The session will also explore support for more than 30 database engines, including: - Google Cloud databases such as AlloyDB, BigQuery and Spanner - PostgreSQL and MySQL - Oracle and MongoDB - Other database platforms supported by the toolbox Attendees can expect a technical overview of where MCP Toolbox fits within an AI application architecture, why a standardised connection layer matters, and how it can reduce the burden of maintaining database-specific integration code. The emphasis is on moving from experimental generative AI towards reliable agents and workflows that can interact with real enterprise systems. ## Speaker and audience Stenal has nearly a decade of experience across software engineering, cloud architecture, microservices and distributed systems. Before joining Google in 2021, he worked at Zoho Corporation, Cisco and Synamedia, developing cloud-connected and edge-computing solutions for major global clients.
