Making AI Work: September AI Meetup

Christchurch AI’s free September meetup brings practical AI implementation and human judgement into focus on 14 September 2026 at the EPIC Innovation Centre. ## From judgement to implementation As AI moves deeper into everyday knowledge work, organisations need to decide not only what they can automate, but what they should trust and how responsibility should be shared. Making AI Work examines both sides of that challenge: preserving human expertise and accountability while turning experimental AI use into reliable business workflows. The meetup takes place on Monday 14 September 2026, from 5:30pm to 8pm NZST, at the EPIC Innovation Centre, 78–100 Manchester Street, Christchurch. Attendance is free. ## Two perspectives on AI at work ### Human Judgement in an AI World Pamela Simpson, a DBA candidate at the University of Otago, will present early insights from research involving subject-matter experts across New Zealand’s professional, corporate and government sectors. Her talk will explore: - How people decide what information and systems to trust - What counts as expertise in an AI-enabled workplace - Accountability when AI contributes to knowledge work - How organisations can protect epistemic integrity as adoption grows ### AI Implementation in Business Caelan Huntress of AI Coaching Academy will focus on teaching AI agents how a business actually operates. That means capturing workflows, standards, rules, decisions, exceptions and institutional knowledge,not simply adding an AI tool and expecting it to work. Caelan will cover agent onboarding, workflow handoffs and AI readiness, including how to establish an internal AI working group that can test use cases and share lessons across an organisation. ## Who it’s for This meetup is designed for business owners, leaders, consultants and operations teams implementing AI at work.
