Machine Learning Bootcamp for Teenagers
Description
In five days, your teenager will go from never having trained a machine learning model to demoing one they built themselves. BUILD THE FUTURE is a hands-on bootcamp for curious 13 to 17 year olds in Aberdeen. Students write real Python code in Google Colab, train classifiers, cluster data, and present a project of their own to the room on Friday. Every morning opens with a 10-minute lightning talk from a working ML engineer at a major company, followed by live Q&A. This is access most professionals do not get; we are putting it in front of teenagers. What they will actually do Day 1 — Foundations. What ML is. The role of data. Their first image classifier. Day 2 — How ML learns. Supervised and unsupervised learning. They train their own models. Day 3 — Real project. Mentor-guided machine learning on a serious problem. Day 4 — Solo challenge. We give them a problem and step back. They decide everything. Day 5 — Showcase. They demo their work to the room. Awards. Closing. Who they will meet Lightning talks from engineers and data scientists working at: Spotify (recommendations), Google (ML engineering), KPMG (applied data science), FanDuel (predictive models), United Nations (AI for impact). 10 minutes plus Q&A each morning. Who this is for Curious teenagers aged 13 to 17 who want to build something instead of just use it. No prior coding experience required. They need a working laptop, a Gmail account for Google Colab, and the willingness to spend four focused hours a day for one week. This is not for students who need someone to tell them every step, can't commit to all five days, or are being signed up against their wishes. We are not looking for the smartest students. We are looking for the most committed. What to bring Pre-work (required before Day 1)
