
GenAI in Supervision and Publishing Workshop
Description
This interactive workshop explores emerging research integrity challenges associated with the use of Generative AI in scientific writing, publishing, and peer review. Developed by A/Prof. Rowan Gollan and A/Prof. Archie Chapman, the session, delivered by A/Prof Severine van Bommel (AGFS), uses a real-life inspired case study to facilitate discussion around authorship, supervision, accountability, transparency, and originality in research practice. Participants will work through a complex publication scenario involving undisclosed AI use, transparent disclosure practices, and unintended plagiarism generated by AI tools, raising important questions about responsibility and integrity in contemporary research environments. Both, Faculty of Science staff and HDR students are invited to attend. Date: 1 September 2026 Time: 10am - 12.noon Location: Room 201, Bldg 8111, Gatton, Plant Industries, UQ Light refreshments will be provided. Important: Due to the interactive nature of this workshop, attendance is in person only. The workshop will not be recorded.
