Design Thinking for AI Product
Description
Design Thinking for AI Product Building an AI product is easy to start and hard to get right. Most teams jump straight into the model or the feature training, fine-tuning, shipping and only later ask whether it actually solves a real problem for real users. By then, the cost of being wrong has multiplied. This session flips that order: problem first, technology second. AI product work has a particular trap that classic Design Thinking doesn't always address head-on, it's tempting to design around what the model can do, rather than what the user actually needs. This session is built specifically for that gap. You'll learn how to frame an AI product opportunity the way you'd frame any human problem through real user needs, not technical capability and only then explore where AI genuinely adds value versus where it's simply the trend of the moment. What you'll do: Welcome & introductions (15 min) • Frame the problem : Start from the user's actual pain point, not the AI capability. Learn a simple framework to separate "AI can do this" from "AI should do this here." (40 min) • Explore the user's context: Understand what trust, transparency, and control mean for users interacting with an AI-driven product or feature, and how that shapes design decisions. (30 min) • Ideate with constraints: Generate and structure ideas that account for AI's real limitations (latency, errors, opacity), rather than designing around a perfect-case demo. (40 min) • Prototype a testable direction: Leave with a concrete, structured concept not a finished product, but a direction you can validate before committing engineering time. (40 min) Wrap-up & next steps (15 min) Who it's for: Product managers, founders, designers, and teams currently building or about to build AI-powered features or products, who want a structured way to think before they build. No prior Design Thinking experience required: the session introduces the mindset as we go, with a focus on applying it directly to AI product challenges.
