Data4Good Roundtable

Explore how NLP can advance social good at this English-language Data4Good roundtable in Frankfurt on 24 September 2026. Organised by the CorrelAid Rhein-Main community and hosted by Benjamin and Zahra M., this two-hour discussion offers a thoughtful space to examine how data science, AI and machine learning affect society, and where they could deliver greater public benefit. What the roundtable will explore The conversation will use the research paper “NLP for Social Good: A Survey and Outlook of Challenges, Opportunities, and Responsible Deployment” as its starting point. Rather than following a conventional programme of presentations, attendees will discuss the ideas raised by the paper and consider questions including: How is natural language processing already being used for social good? Which communities, needs or application areas remain underserved? Where might NLP create the most meaningful positive impact? What challenges and responsibilities come with deploying this technology? Reading the article beforehand is appreciated and will help you engage with its arguments, but it is not required. Anyone who does not have time to prepare is still welcome to take part. Who should attend? The roundtable is relevant to data scientists, AI and NLP practitioners, researchers, nonprofit professionals, volunteers, and anyone interested in the societal impact of technology. It should also suit people looking for a more discussion-led alternative to technical talks or product demos. Newcomers are explicitly welcome, so you do not need to be an existing member of CorrelAid Rhein-Main. CorrelAid is a network of more than 2,500 data scientists who use data science and machine learning to support organisations working for good.
