On Friday August 28, we're running a Claude Impact Lab, a room of builders using Claude to tackle a handful of big Birmingham-specific problems. During our Claude Conversation event the prior week (Aug 21), we identified five areas where AI could enhance (or harm) human judgment, accountability, initiative, imagination, or relationships. In this Impact Lab our goal will be useful tools and prototypes to solve these problems. A team may instead produce a service blueprint, research artifact, implementation plan, campaign, or operating process when that is the more useful civic contribution. Every project should leave with a visible artifact, clear limitations, and a named next step. Attendees will receive $100 in API credits. The winning team will receive Claude 20x accounts for one month. Timeline We'll get started around 9am. We'll build all day. Lunch is included. We'll stop around 2pm to give presentations and present the winners. And we'll be all wrapped up by 3:30.
