Learn to automate real work with Hermes AI agents at a hands-on workshop in [Leicester](https://www.createwith.com/cities/leicester), led by Vibe Code Social member Brook on 18 August 2026. ## Build beyond the chatbot Taking place from **17:30–19:00 at Leicester Startups, 41 King Street**, this free workshop explores how AI agents can connect to your tools, retain context between sessions and carry out tasks,not simply answer questions. Hermes is an open-source, model-agnostic AI agent framework and one of the most talked-about tools in the AI agent space this year. Brook will introduce its core concepts, demonstrate practical applications and help attendees think beyond isolated prompts towards systems that can deliver ongoing value. The workshop will cover: - What Hermes is and how the framework works - Connecting Hermes to the tools and platforms you use - The kinds of tasks an AI agent can perform - How to think in systems rather than individual tasks - Worked examples, including a small multiplayer game and an IRC-style app - An open floor for attendees’ ideas and questions ## Format and experience level The main presentation and demonstration will run for approximately **45 minutes**, followed by questions. The remaining time is open for networking, testing ideas and connecting with other people building with AI. This session is more technically involved than Vibe Code Social’s regular meetups, but it remains open to beginners. With some persistence, newcomers should be able to follow the material. You can work through the examples yourself or simply watch, learn and ask questions,hands-on participation is optional. If you want to follow along, **install Hermes before arriving**, as there will not be time for a complete setup walkthrough during the event. Brook’s examples will use the CLI version, although a desktop application is also available for those who prefer a modern interface. Bring a laptop if you plan to try things yourself.
