AI Essentials for WA Workplaces
Description
Start using AI at work with structure, not guesswork. AI can help with everyday work, but knowing how to use it safely and effectively is more important than simply knowing which tools are available. This practical session helps WA workers build a clear starting point for using AI in their day-to-day roles. You will work through common workplace tasks, practise safer prompting, and learn how to check AI-generated content before relying on it. By the end, you will have a simple plan for using AI more consistently and responsibly at work. Who this is for This session is designed for:• SME staff and team leaders • Administrators and support staff • Professionals across different industries • Workers who are curious about AI but unsure where to start • Anyone moving from occasional AI use to more structured workplace use No prior AI experience is required. What we will do together • Understand AI at work: Explore what current AI tools can do well, where they have limitations, and which workplace tasks may not be suitable. • Set safe boundaries: Identify what information should stay out of AI tools and practise turning risky requests into safer alternatives. • Write better prompts: Use practical prompt techniques to get clearer and more useful results from AI tools. • Check before you act: Apply a simple verification routine to AI-generated text and data summaries so outputs are reviewed before being used. • Apply it to your work: Use each method with a task from your own week and turn the learning into practical next steps.
