Financial services on the blockchain, including stablecoins, have been progressing in Japan since the enforcement of the amended Payment Services Act in 2023, transitioning from proof-of-concept to implementation stages. Moreover, blockchain is said to have a good compatibility with AI due to its open and programmable characteristics. However, many issues remain to be resolved regarding the integration with existing financial infrastructure, user protection, and legal frameworks for social implementation.
