AI 2027 Tabletop Exercise

Description

A structured role-play of AI takeoff, month by month, built by the AI Futures Project.It's January 2028. A leading US AI company has just built an AI that works like a remote employee: as good as its best engineers at coding and human experts across a widening range of tasks. From here, progress accelerates. Over the session, we play out what happens next.Each participant takes a role (the US government, a leading AI company (its leadership and its safety team), China, the press and public, and the AIs themselves) and acts as that actor realistically would, given its knowledge and incentives. The aim is realism: we're building the most plausible branch of the future we can. The facilitator ("Reality") plays the rest of the world and adjudicates contested actions, rolling dice when the outcome is genuinely uncertain.Turns are ~30 minutes, each 1-3 months of simulated time.
