AI & Animals: Screening + Discussion
Description
🎬 3:00 PM - Screening While AI's impact on humanity dominates the headlines, its effects on nonhuman animals get almost no attention. Yet AI will significantly shape the lives of animals, for better or worse, in both the near and the far future. Animal advocates face an urgent choice: react after the harm is done, or prevent it before it unfolds. History shows us the cost of being reactive. We failed to prevent factory farming before it became entrenched, failed to stop industrial fish farming before billions of animals were confined in cramped conditions, and failed to anticipate the explosive growth of insect farming. With AI, we can't afford to make the same mistake. AI & Animals brings together 16 of the world's leading voices on AI and animal advocacy and scholarship, from different continents and from fields spanning ethics, advocacy, strategy, science, and technology. RATING: PG (Parental Guidance) 💬 3:30 PM - Post-Screening Discussion "Looking Beyond Ourselves - How Do We Build a Better Future for More Than Just Us?" As part of EarthlingsFest, stay with us after the screening for a conversation exploring how technology could shape the lives of other animals, and how we might build a better future for more than just ourselves. Come curious, hear different perspectives, and join the conversation. 🎟️ Free admission. Registration required.
