Solidarity AI

Solidarity AI is a four-day conference in Bangkok, running 12–15 November 2026 at Chulalongkorn University, focused on AI for climate justice, communal care and local values. Co-convened by PCC Global and PCC Thailand with Chulalongkorn University and regional allies, the gathering asks who should control the technologies that increasingly shape work, livelihoods, culture and public life. Rather than treating communities as passive users, it explores how workers and people affected by AI can exercise meaningful control over everything from raw-material extraction and data to algorithms and governance. ## What to expect The programme combines plenary sessions, participatory workshops, sector-focused breakouts and strategy sessions. It is designed to connect scholarship rooted in lived experience with practical organising and technology development. Central themes include: - AI systems built for climate justice, equity and care - Shared ownership, democratic governance and accountable infrastructure - The effects of digital systems on pay, surveillance, displacement and invisible labour - Local languages, knowledge and values in technology design - Solidarity expressed through governance, business models, infrastructure and international collaboration - “Solidarity stacks”: interconnected technology, governance and labour systems that are collectively owned and locally governed Examples spanning Asia and beyond will ground these discussions, including farmer-led data cooperatives in India, Vietnam’s national AI stack, multilingual systems in Indonesia and Malaysia, worker organising in the Philippines and platform cooperatives in Spain. The conference also draws on Buddhist ethics, Thailand’s sufficiency economy, Gandhian thought and Ambedkarite critique to move beyond Western-centric and growth-at-all-costs approaches to AI.… Register for this event
