Self Organising Maps, Geoscience applications at GSWA
Опис
GSWA has collected, interpreted, and disseminated geological information as part of the State government for 138 years. With such a diverse archive of data and knowledge, GSWA has formed a Geoscience Data Integrations branch to undertake data science and machine learning. One recent project is the use of Self Organising Maps to integrate remote sensing and geophysical layers, to assist with geological mapping. This talk will cover how these applications are undertaken and scaled at GSWA, and invite you to join us for GSWA’s Earth science hackathon in October. Bio: Luke Smith is the senior geodata scientist for the Geoscience Data Integration branch at the Geological Survey of Western Australia. He holds a PhD from UWA on deep learning applications for geophysics, and majors in Geology and Geophysics from Macquarie University.
