Curious about artificial intelligence and how it can support your everyday life? Join Sara for this two-part workshop series designed for technology users who are keen to learn more about harnessing the power of AI. Explore real-life applications such as meal planning for food waste reduction & shopping lists, planning travel, organising information, problem-solving and discovering practical "life hacks" that can save time and simplify everyday tasks. Part 1: 14th October 6-7.30pm workshop: In this session, you'll explore what AI is, how it works, and why it matters. Learn key concepts, uncover common myths and limitations, and discover how AI is already shaping the way we live, work and learn. Through practical demonstrations of popular AI platforms including Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, you'll gain an understanding of what each tool does best and how to choose the right one for different tasks. You'll also learn how to write effective prompts, evaluate AI-generated information, and use these tools safely and responsibly. Part 2: 28th October 6-7.30pm workshop: Bring your own device and build on the skills introduced in Session 1 through a collaborative, hands-on learning experience. Working alongside library staff and fellow participants, you'll develop and refine AI prompts, explore advanced tips and tricks, and gain confidence using a range of AI tools. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from one another, share ideas, and focus on areas of AI that interest them most, whether that's meal planning, travel, productivity, research, creative projects, or everyday problem-solving. IT Staff will be available throughout the session to provide guidance, answer questions, and help you get the most from AI in a practical and meaningful way. Please note: These sessions are designed for participants with a basic working knowledge of their own device.
