The event titled "AI-Assisted Programming for STEM" will take place at Duke University in Durham, United States. This class is designed to introduce scientists and engineers to the utilization of AI tools to enhance their quantitative programming tasks specifically in Python. Participants will explore how AI can streamline common workflows

Introduction to AI tools for enhancing Python programming tasks in STEM fields. Focus on streamlining workflows such as data extraction, cleaning, modeling, and debugging. Discussion on the nature of AI, its nondeterministic outputs, and differences from traditional resources. Guidance on evaluating and verifying AI-generated suggestions. Targeted at undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals with some programming experience. No prerequisites required, making it accessible to a broad audience. Part of the Duke Pathways program, developed by Duke's Office of Information Technology's Innovation Co-Lab Development Team and the Creative and User Experience team. Supported by the Center for Computational Thinking. Scheduled for April 7, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Estimated attendance of up to 100 delegates.
