The Data Assimilation & Machine Learning conference will take place from March 16 to March 20, 2026, at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in Reading, United States. Five-day course focusing on Data Assimilation (DA) methods and assimilating observations. Introduction to Machine Learning techniques in the DA workflow. Hands-on sessions and discussions included. Topics: Optimal Interpolation, 3D-Var, 4D-Var, Kalman filter, Ensemble Kalman Filter methods. Exploration of error covariances and handling non-Gaussian errors. Use of satellite observations in the global observing system. Bias correction, quality control, and diagnostics. Applications in land surface, ocean, atmospheric composition, and reanalysis. Participants should have a good meteorological and mathematical background. All lectures are given in English.
